University General Education Outcomes

Adopted 2012

Upon completion of the general education curriculum at Chicago State University, students will:

Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate an understanding of cultural diversity and interrelatedness as well as human and environmental interaction.
Demonstrate creative and critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem solving skills.
Apply the basic vocabularies, questions, and methods of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to the process of inquiry.
Demonstrate an understanding of and engagement with the social dimensions of civic life.
Demonstrate an understanding of the interaction between science and technology, society, and the environment.

- Humanities/Fine Arts (9 credits) must include one humanities course and one fine arts course

- Natural Sciences (6 credits) one physical science (chemistry, geography, physical science, or physics) and one biology; one must be a lab
