Music: Music Production Concentration, BA

General Requirements for the concentration in Music Production

Students must:

register and participate in MUSM 1800 during the fall and spring semesters while enrolled full or part-time at the university.
register and participate in the music production group during the fall and spring semesters while enrolled full time at the university.
present a senior recital, which must be a minimum of 25 minutes of music. Four weeks before the recital, the student must successfully complete a recital hearing for a minimum of two music faculty.
pass an exit piano proficiency examination before graduation
complete 120 credit hours: 39 credit hours in combined general education, 54 credit hours in music specialization, and 27 credit hours in electives.

Nine (9) Credits of Humanities/Fine Arts; at least 3 credits of humanities and 3 credits of fine arts
Nine (9) Credits of Social Sciences: at least two disciplines. AFAM 1000 - Introduction to African American Studies, plus 6 elective credit hours
Three (3) Credits of Life Science and Three (3) Credits of Physical Science; one of which must have a lab

Three (3) Credits of a Foreign Language
One general education or major course carrying the diversity designation (embedded)

12 credit hours from MUSA: a minimum of 6 semesters (12 credit hours) at the 1000 level

MUSM 1800 - Performance Class Credit Hours: 0 every semester of full-time or part-time enrollment

MUSM 4800 - Senior Recital Credit Hours: 0 fulfills the senior thesis/capstone requirement

Students may select elective courses from across the university with approval from the department.
