General Requirements
Admission to the program is contingent upon good academic standing and acceptance by the department. Achievement of a grade of C or better is required in all psychology courses applied toward the major. Students must complete 120 semester hours of work, including the College of Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements, required credit hours in the major, and general electives selected with the advisor’s approval. The following program requirements apply to first-year, transfer students, and newly-declared psychology majors beginning Fall 2020. Specific Requirements Psychology Core (28 credit hours)
Elective Psychology Courses (12 credit hours)
Requires twelve credit hours of electives in psychology, selected with the approval of the departmental academic advisor. NOTE: Psychology majors may not elect to take PSYC 2020 . Students may take PSYC 4000 and PSYC 4160 with the approval of the department faculty and the psychology academic advisor.
General Education Requirements (36 credit hours)
Core Requirements (12 credit hours)
- (6) credit hours in English composition
- (3) credit hours in Oral communication
- (3) credit hours in Mathematics
General Requirements (24 credit hours)
- (9) credit hours in Humanities and Fine Arts (at least 3 credits humanities and 3 credits fine arts)
- (9) credit hours in Social Sciences (at least two disciplines)
- (9) credit hours in Natural Sciences (physical science and biology; one must include a lab).
Non-Major General Electives (41 credit hours)
College of Arts and Sciences Requirement (3 credit hrs)
- One course in a Foreign Language (3 hrs)
- One general education or major course carrying the diversity designation (embedded)
