CJ 2260 - Cybercrime


This course offers a comprehensive exploration of cybercrime. Students will explore the societal impact of cybercrime from a criminal justice perspective, addressing various cyberthreats, criminal organizations, and the spectrum of cybercrimes. Topics of the course include crime scene examination, protection against cyberthreats, and a detailed analysis of major cybercrimes and threat actors. Students will understand evolving methods, cyber assaults (ransomware, malware. phishing, stalking), and gain practical insights into identifying and documenting cybercrime. This course will navigate legal complexities. including current challenges and 4th Amendment considerations, covering cyber search warrants, evidence seizure, and proper evidence handling, and the course will develop the knowledge and skills essential for effective cybercrime investigations and contribute to digital security.
