WEST AFRICA (3)History of the West African sub region, with special emphasis on the Niger River Valley civilizations of Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Ashanti, Yoruba, and Dahomey, the ancestral origins of African Americans, the impact of the desiccation of the Sahara Desert, and the origins and impact of the great Bantu migrations.Prerequisites: Junior standing or successful completion of at least one history course with a grade of C or higher.
