HIST 4381 - Hist of Religion


HISTORY OF RELIGION (3)Historical study of world religions, their origins and development. Includes discussion of religions originating in India (Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism); the Far East (ancestor worship, Chinese Taoism, Confucianism, Japanese Shinto); and Middle East (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). Native African, Native American and Syncretic Caribbean religions are also discussed. (This course counts as a non-western course for Teacher Certification).Prerequisites: Junior standing or successful completion of at least one history course with a grade of C or higher.
