HISTORY OF RACE AND RACE RELATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES (3)The examination of the historical concept of race and racial and ethnic relations, and how these ideas have shaped and have been shaped by the legacies of colonialism, slavery, imperialism, segregation, and protest movements in the United States. Topics covered may include contemporary theories and frameworks such as critical race theory, post racial society, color-blindness, whiteness racial formation, and anti-racism. Cross listed as AFAM 4300. Credit not given for both HIST4300/5300 and AFAM 4300.Prerequisite: Junior Standing or successful complete of at least one History African American Studies course with a grade of C or better.
