ESL 4130 - Cross Cultural Studies

CROSS-CULTURAL STUDIES / FIELD (3)Impact of culture on learners within society and the educational system and the importance of understanding the power of culture in addressing the needs of English as Second Language learners. Exploration of the processes of acculturation and cultural conflict and the influence of cultural assumptions on student performance and self-image in the American educational system. Design of culturally relevant instruction to promote student academic success. Fifteen (15) clock hours of field-based experience in English as Second Language classrooms.
