CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT /FIELD (3)This course is designed to present information on the theory and practice of effective teaching skills. Major topics include diversity, responsive teaching, writing objectives, critical teaching skills, critical management skills, monitoring student learning, selected interventions, and teacher self-management and reflection. (Critical teaching skills include planning effective openings, closings, questions, active participation strategies, partner and small-group work activities, practice activities, giving directions, explanations, demonstrations, visual supports, teaching key terms and vocabulary, and monitoring student learning. Critical management skills are discussed in relation to effective teaching and are incorporated into planning activities.) Field/clinical hours are required for the completion of assignments.Prerequisite: ECH 4420
