S ED 5304 - Sp Lang Dev/Cls Tchr SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT AND THE CLASSROOM TEACHER (3) This course focuses on the developmental aspects of speech and language, including speech and language disorders. Emphasis will be placed on typical and atypical language development during the early childhood stage and ways in which exceptional conditions can interact with an individual’s experience with and use of language. Additional information covered will pertain to strategies teachers can use to teach communication skills to students with special needs, and augmentative, alternative and assistive technologies used to enhance speech and language development. Prerequisite: S ED 4301/301; or consent of department.
