EDUCATION FUNDAMENTALS FOR SCHOOL COUNSELORS (4) The course covers Illinois required content: The psychology and methods of instruction of the exceptional child in cross-categorical special education; reading methods and content-area reading; the structure, organization and operation of the P-12 educational system; the diversity of Illinois students and the laws and programs designed to meet their needs; and effective management of the classroom and learning process. Designed for candidates enrolling in the school counseling program who are not licensed teachers. Fifteen hours of teacher-aiding. Prerequisite: Conditional admission to Master’s degree program in School Counseling or consent of Psychology department.
