ECH 4311 - Pedagogy of Arts and Literature Integration This course will focus on developmentally appropriate instructional methods and materials for expressive and creative arts through play, music, movement, poetry, storytelling, creative writing, and visual arts in early childhood settings with special emphasis placed on children’s literature. Students will use content knowledge and appropriate learning standards to design, plan, organize, and analyze age and culturally-appropriate experiences, materials, strategies, and environments that facilitate children’s exploration and creative expression in PreK to Grade 2. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary planning and instruction using the elements, materials and media which comprise the fine and performing arts and children’s literature. Credit will be given for only one of the following; ECH 4311/ECH 5311 or both of the following courses - ECH 4410 /5410 and ECH ECH 4412 /ECH 5412.

Prerequisites Admission to the College of Education or Early Childhood Education: Family Studies (ECNT) major; Year 3 (Junior) level or above.
